Getting ready for Grad School

So I decided to go back to school, and try my hand at performing. I set my date for my DUQ audition, it is going to be March 26th. I have yet to hear from WVU about my audition, I'm just going to go to the CAC tomorrow before work. I had my first voice lesson in over a year today and it felt....AMAZING! It's so nice to get back into taking lessons. Ran into a little problem when one of my potential references doesn't agree with me formy reasonings for choosing to go back to grad school and doesn't agree with why I am choosing WVU and DUQ. Now, I am curious as to why this is having an effect on whether or not I recieve a positive letter of recommendation or not. I thought the purpose of a letter of recommendation was just to provide information about a canidate, do they posses the right qualities to be in a vocal performance graduate program, do they have the talent, the desire, the musical abilities. Not do you agree with the canidates choice of schools and reasonings behind choosing this program. I have given it a lot of thought, and this is what I want to do, why can't I just recieve a letter based on my talent, potential, and abilities. Not why I am choosing the schools or program I am? Ugh... it's frustrating!
